Beth from Homebody State of Mind met me on a very cold February morning at a studio downtown Kamloops, BC for her branding photo session. Beth recently "went from working in healthcare & feeling like something was missing to thriving in the online space as an online creative & Showit web designer."
The goal of this session was to reflect Beth's gorgeous design aesthetic and to capture a slice of her personal life (Piper the pup). Based on conversations and multiple correspondence with Beth I began a mood board that aligned with Homebody State of Mind's current branding and the message we wanted to convey; "creating online spaces that feel like home."
Beth added photos and ideas to the mood board and we continued to talk about the feel we wanted to create for her session. We then began planning the details; location, wardrobe & colours, props and etc for the photos. We kept everything pretty simple, clean and cozy to stay true to her current online presence.
I shot two rolls of film, Fuji 200 & Portra 400, both developed by the amazing Canadian Film Lab. I then converted some images to black and white. You might be asking yourself, why film? Well, I primarily shoot film and we wanted to achieve a soft, dreamy look to the photos (which film is perfect for).
I was ridiculously happy with the results, but then this amazing review from Beth sent me over the moon:
